At first, I intended to simply fill this piece with florals and foliage all relating to love, incorporating the symbolism of Victorian floriography and spiritual aphrodisiacs. But as soon as I had it all loosely sketched, I was struck with overwhelming inspiration to restart with a focus on the classic and complex story of Persephone. And so this became Her eye, Her garden of fateful pomegranates and defining florals. Then the garden expanded, no more a field of random wildflowers but now a symbolic bouquet of various Greek myths and fables, all pertaining to the interconnected themes of Love and Death.
